Permalink Ghoooooosts!

Ingredients
1/3 cup butter
6 cups miniature marshmallows
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
8 cups crispy rice cereal
8 ounces white chocolate
small chocolate chips

Directions

  1. In saucepan, melt butter over medium heat; stir in marshmallows until smooth. Stir in vanilla extract.
  2. Scrape into large bowl; stir in cereal until coated.
  3. Set bowl over saucepan of boiling water. Using rubber gloves, take a handful of cereal mixture and sculpt into a ghost shape, about three or four inches tall.
  4. Let stand on wax paper for about 30 minutes or until firm.
  5. Melt the white chocolate in a double boiler (or in a bowl over a saucepan of boiling water.)
  6. Use a fork to drip white chocolate over the rice crispy squares to create the white "ghoul-like" outer coating.
  7. Use two chocolate chips to stick into the ghost head for eyes.

I made these for my Halloween party, and was told that they were too sweet. (I also put a little Karo Syrup into the melting pot to get the treats to stay a little smushy after they set.)

Oh how silly... There's no such thing as too sweet!

I did this as squares today, just 'cos I was in the mood. I used salted butter (which I normally never do with baked stuff) and also put in a small pinch of salt before adding the cereal. Not too sweet at all. But they'll still kill you. Sodium.
